Brandborg Winery
Terry and Sue Brandborg believe they have found the perfect location to grow and make the cool climate wine varieties they adore. After extensive searching they have settled in Elkton, the most northwest and marine influenced region of the Umpqua Valley. In 2002, Brandborg Winery opened in Elkton and planting of the Estate Vineyard began at their ranch 4 miles southwest of town, primarily to Dijon clones of pinot noir. The site, at 750' to 1100', sits above the fog with perfect southern exposures. The diversity of the Umpqua Valley affords the opportunity to grow and make a variety of superlative wines in one of the most beautiful viticultural areas in the world.
Varieties:
- Pinot Noir
Bench Lands - a soft, fruit forward wine full of berries.
Love Puppets - produced from our favorite dry farmed vineyards, all with yields of less than 2 tons per acre.
Ferris Wheel Estate - our estate fruit becomes more profound with each vintage and the '06 is a deeper wine in every way when compared to the award winning '05 (Silver medal San Francisco Chronicle)
- Pinot Gris
Dry style, full varietal fruit
- Gewurztraminer
Slightly sweet, crisp, floral, spicy
- Riesling
Off dry, racy, clean, fresh
- Scarlet Cuvee
Rose of pinot noir-dry, one customer: "the perfect deck wine"
- Cabernet Franc, Syrah
These wines are big and full bodied and true to their heritage. The vineyards sourced are located in the warmer inland valleys of the 100 Valleys of the Umpqua.
